About me
I am a Professor of Conservation and ICON accredited objects conservator with an interest in arms and armour stemming from my childhood and hobbies including wargaming and role-playing games.
Since 2018 I have been constructing mail (sometimes spelled maille) armour, making precise copies of documented archaeological and historical mail and I am a member of Heritage Crafts, publicising the Red Listed craft of mail making. I was awarded Heritage Crafts / Silverlining Wales Maker of the Year 2024.
What I can offer
I work with clients to discuss their armour needs, sourcing images, references and measurements of period correct mail armour. I manufacture tooling to enable me to produce rings that precisely match the shape and style of the period and produce armour fitted to the client or samples for display.
