Tropical Rainforests Local Projects Supported

Synchronicity Earth acts to protect and restore threatened species and ecosystems that are globally overlooked and underfunded.
The Waterloo Foundation is supporting its Congo Basin programme, which provides core funding and capacity-building to grassroots organisations in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Cameroon. The Programme helps Indigenous Peoples and local communities to defend their territories and rights, resist destructive developments, and revive ecosystems through regenerative approaches.


Alianza Ceibo, or Ceibo Alliance, is an Ecuadorian NGO that is scaling a model of Indigenous-led conservation of the Upper Amazon across Ecuador, Peru and Colombia. Since 2019, Ceibo Alliance has supported Waorani, Kofán, Siekopai and Siona communities in establishing, training and equipping Indigenous land patrols to actively protect 710,000 hectares of rainforest.
The Waterloo Foundation is supporting Ceibo Alliance to consolidate and expand Indigenous territorial protection with the necessary training, tools and networks.


Yayasan Hutan, Alam dan Lingkungan Aceh (HAkA) is an Indonesian NGO based on the island of Sumatra in the province of Aceh. HAkA works to improve land and forest governance across Aceh, particularly to strengthen government policies on forest governance and protection, and to empower civil society to protect and restore the environment.
The Waterloo Foundation supports HAkA’s advocacy focused on the protection of the Leuser Ecosystem, one of South-East Asia’s largest rainforest areas.
